Briton 376 Panic Bar | 2 Point Locking
The Briton 376 vertical panic bolt is a 2 point locking exit device to suit left and right handed doors. The unit is tested to meet EN 1125 standards for panic exit devices, is CE marked, and is suitable for use on fire and smoke doors.
This product is ideal for use on escape route doors in high traffic public areas such as shops, public buildings, or entertainment venues. They should be fitted to doors in areas where personnel are unlikely to have been trained in the location and operations of the building's exit devices. They are also for installation on doors that could be used by the public to exit the building safely.
Approved Document B also recommends that panic exit devices, such as a push bar or crash bar, are used in areas with 60 or more occupants, irrespective of the use of the building. The Briton 378 is another panic push bar from their range but it is single point locking, with a horizontal bar and rim latch, but no vertical bolts.
If emergency exit hardware is required for final exit doors where staff are fully trained in the operation of the ironmongery, then you can install a push pad or lever handles operated hardware. The door hardware would need to be tested to EN 179, such as the Briton 372 push pad exit device.

Briton 376 Fitting Instructions
In the Product Manuals section, you will find various downloadable documents for the Briton 376 SE single door panic bolt. They include the installation instructions, technical data sheet, and Declaration of Performance (DOP).
The manufacturer recommends monthly checks of the panic hardware and the door it is installed on, to ensure that all components are in good condition and working correctly. Details can be found on the technical data sheet.
Briton 376 Series Exit Hardware
As part of this range, you'll find CE marked push pads, panic latches, and mortice nightlatches, with options to suit single and double door applications. The Briton 377 double panic bolt set is supplied with two panic bars and a strike plate, to suit double doors. Panic hardware with vertical shoot bolts provides additional security over single point locking hardware.
There are also many different accessories and spares available for the Briton 376. This includes the 376.ELTS extra long top shoot bolts that allow hardware to be extended to suit doors up to 3350mm high. The Briton 376.P features quiet-close Pullman latches and the 376.PD has manual hold open dogging facility.
If external access is required through a door fitted with panic or escape hardware, then you can install an outside access device (OAD). Ensure you are fitting an OAD from the same brand as the panic hardware as not all makes and ranges are compatible. Also, installing products that aren't tested together could invalidate any test evidence or certification of the doorset.
Outside access devices are available with knob operation or lever operation, once the euro cylinder has been unlocked. Briton also produces a mechanical digital lock, the 9260, that can be used with their panic hardware products, which provides code entry and access by a lever handle. Fitting an OAD does not prevent single-action egress internally, it simply provides authorised access from the outside of the final exit door.
