Gretsch-Unitas GmbH
Gretsch-Unitas Group (G-U) | Door & Window Solutions
G-U has been distributing security products for many years, under the Gretsch-Unitas brand plus BKS, Ferco, and ela-soft. Their window and door hardware can be installed on domestic and commercial projects. At Door Controls Direct we have been supplying BKS locks to external escape doors on RNLI stations for many decades, proving their robustness and durability in tough conditions.
Door Hardware
The GU BKS cylinder locks suit various door types, including timber, aluminium, steel, and PVC. The PVC and aluminium door locks have slimline profiles and short backsets to suit narrow door stiles, whilst the steel and wooden door locks have much deeper lockcases with larger backsets.
Their extensive range of mortice lockcases encompass many different functions and profiles from manual-locking heavy duty sash and deadlocks to escape locks and fire door locks. There are also self-locking systems available with their B-function escape door locks, mechatronic locks, and battery-operated locks.
To complement their lockcases and offer a complete security solution, BKS euro cylinders are available in standard mechanical variants and as part of an electronic locking system. Any door hardware can be used in conjunction with the ixalo SE battery-operated electronic cylinders. The low energy ixalo RFID range is equipped with Mifare technology and the hardware is suitable for use on escape routes, whether to BS EN 179 or BS EN 1125.
GU produces a range of door closers that includes floor springs, scissor arm and slide rail closers, concealed door closers, and their modular OTS 73x range. Their door hardware range also features standard items of ironmongery like door viewers, hinges, thresholds, plus a range of panic and emergency exit escape door hardware. The GU ferco multipoint door locks are available in a variety of backsets, with mushroom cams or hook locks, as a gearbox or a complete UPVC door lock.
Window Hardware
Tilt and turn, pivoting, lifting, and sliding - the GU window hardware range covers it all, offering "the right hardware solution for every window". Gretsch Unitas window technology is suitable for installation in hospitality establishments such as high-end, luxury hotels, education environments like schools and colleges, public spaces such as airports and leisure facilities, plus care facilities including care homes and hospitals.
In addition to the hardware to make windows tilt and turn, or pivot horizontally or vertically, GU supply window handles to suit. They have a selection of large-format handles for their Tilt&Slide and Lift&Slide systems, a range of lockable turn handles that satisfy the requirements of EN 1627-1630, and new and replacement window handles that satisfy the requirements of EN 13126-3.
Automatic Entrance Systems
The GU range of automatic entrance systems incorporates barrier-free solutions for sliding, swing, and revolving doors. On our site we feature the DTN 80 swing door drive operator, which is suitable for installation on both single and double swing doors. The GU DTN 80 can be installed from new or retrofitted to existing doors. It can be fitted on fire protection doors, fire exit doors, and escape doors as it fulfils the requirements of BS EN 179 and BS EN 1125 when installed with approved and tested locks and hardware.
The DTN 80 operator can be installed with the single door leaf BEA LZR Flatscan set, a laser technology swing door sensor, or the BEA Eagle Artek undirectional microwave sensor. The Eagle Artek is an easy replacement for any existing Eagle One units, and it retains a slim and compact design.
