Briton 378 Push Bar Panic Exit Hardware Instructions
In the Product Manuals section, you can view or download various documents for this panic latch. These include the installation instructions, Declaration of Performance (DOP), plus the CE, Certifire, and UKCA certificates for the 378.
The manufacturer recommends a minimum of a monthly check of fire exit doors with their panic hardware installed. This will ensure that the exit devices are fully functional and allow for safe and effective single action egress at all times.
One example of a suggested check is to make sure that the latch bolt fully retracts when the push bar is engaged. No weather strips or seals should hinder the full opening of the door. This unit has a 5 year manufacturer guarantee and more details of the maintenance and checks can be found on the product data sheet.
Briton 376 Series Exit Hardware
As part of the Briton 376 range, you can purchase push pad emergency exit devices to EN 179, for use in areas not used by the public. Users need to be familiar with the emergency exits and have been trained on how to use the exit devices. The Briton 1438 push pad is single point locking, whilst the Briton 372 push pad has vertical panic bolts for two point locking. If in any doubt, always install panic hardware that is certified to EN 1125.
Outside access devices (OADs) are available with knob or lever operation, to provde authorised external access to final exit doors fitted with panic or emergency exit hardware. Ensure the brand and range of OAD are compatible with the exit door hardware and that they have been tested together. The Briton 1413E, lever or knob version, is approved for use in conjunction with the 378 push bar, as is the Briton 9260 digital lock outside access device.
The Briton 378 R SE rim panic latch is quick and easy to install. If additional security is required, the Briton 379 N SE has a dual profile mortice nightlatch case which suits either a euro profile or oval profile cylinder. The cylinder barrels are sold separately so make sure to add one to the basket before checking out.
You can purchase the Briton 378 in various PVD plated finishes as a special order, including stainless steel and polished brass, plus the 378M variant for use on metal doors.
