Briton 1413 LE SE Outside Access Device Lever

The Briton 1413 LE SE emergency exit device compliments the Briton 376 range of panic and emergency hardware. The lever is secured to the OAD by a shear screw designed to fail if the lever is severely abused, such as in an attempted break in situation or due to vandalism. This ensures that the mechanism is protected from damage. The shear pin can then be simply replaced to restore standard operation.

Key Features of the Briton 1413.le.se:

  • Powder coated silver finish
  • Lever operation
  • 40mm single euro cylinder included (30/10)
  • Supplied with 3 keys
  • Suitable for single and double doors
  • Anti-vandal design
  • Reversible handing
  • BS8300 compliant
  • Optional key retention
  • 120 minute fire rating
  • Suitable for doors between 40mm and 100mm thick
  • Tested up to 200,000 cycles
  • Backplate dimensions: 164mm x 50mm x 60mm
  • Fixings suitable for timber and metal doors
  • Fixings and 8mm square spindle included
  • Maximum leaf weight: 200kg

This lever operated outside access device can be used with a panic bar or an emergency exit door push pad from the Briton 376 door hardware range. This unit is also available with knob operation, the 1413 KE. Both variants share a common footprint, making them easily interchangeable. They are supplied with a 40mm euro profile cylinder as standard, which has 3 keys.

As part of any project handover, make sure that all keys are passed to the key holder or responsible person on site following installation. You can read about physical key security in our blog 'The Importance of Key Security'. These units are also available without a cylinder so the facilities manager can provide a suited, master keyed cylinder on an existing master key system to work with this model.

Briton 1413 Fitting Instructions

Our Product Manuals section contains the product technical data sheet, installation instructions, plus the Certifire certificate for this OAD. The fitting instructions guide you through fitting the outside access device with a range of Briton exit devices, how to replace the cylinder, and how to change the handing of the lever.

The unit is locked from the outside but always allows for single action egress internally. The anti-vandal design includes a function that allows the lever to rotate when the unit is locked. The 1413 is supplied with a square spindle that can be cut to length on site to sort the door thickness.

The Briton 1413 LE SE is available in a range of finishes including polished brass, polished stainless steel, and a PVD plated satin stainless steel for added durability. The product data sheet includes information on the types of maintenance required including monthly functional and visual checks of the hardware, and the door to which it is fitted.

If you are on site replacing an older model 1413, lever or knob operated variant, then you will likely require a 1413.BP retrofit conversion plate. Contact our technical sales team for more information. Separate lever packs and knob packs are also available to purchase as spare parts.

Briton 376 Series Exit Hardware

The Briton 376 range of emergency exit devices includes rim panic latches like the Briton 378, and push pad emergency exit devices such as the Briton 1438. This range includes hardware options for single and double doors, with products compliant with either EN 179 or EN 1125.

Products conforming to EN 179 are for use by personnel who are aware of the escape routes and have been trained to operate the devices. For buildings to which members of the public have access or non-public areas where personnel have not been trained in the location and operation of the building's exit devices, products conforming to EN 1125 must be installed. If you are in any doubt, always install panic escape hardware that conforms to EN 1125.

This range also includes an alternative outside access device, the Briton 9260 digital lock OAD, which provides authorised external access like the 1413, but this is by a digital code rather than using a physical key. As the 1413, the 9260 is operated by a lever handle, providing easy and convenient access from outside. It has 2000 non-sequential code options and the code can be changed by removing the lock from the door.
