Door Holder Compatibility and Installation
This Geofire floor bracket is suitable for use with both the Geofire Doormouse and Conquest door holders.
The body of the magnetic door holder is fixed to the bracket, and the corresponding armature plate is mounted to the fire door. Ensure correct alignment so that the full magnetic holding force is delivered on contact.
Route the supply voltage cable to the floor bracket. How this is done will depend on the system or site. It could be underground - concreted into the floor, or surface mounted - run through some containment like conduit.
We would not recommend surface mounting for the cabling, where possible, as it could cause a trip hazard. The length of cable run will depend on the positioning of the power supply unit, the door relative to a wall, and numerous other factors.
In addition to door positioning, the type of site and its users will also impact the precise details of cable installation. It could be worthwhile conducting a risk assessment of users - are they trained staff, children, or vulnerable adults? An on-site judgement call can then be made.
An alternative option to a hardwired door holder and the Geofire door retainer bracket is to fit a wireless option like the Dorgard. This door-mounted retainer will hold a door open at any angle - it doesn’t require contact with an armature plate or a wired connection to the fire alarm. They’re instead triggered by a sustained loud noise.
