These ARRONE heavy duty lift off door hinges are suitable for use on timber doors up to 120kg. Lift off hinges are constructed of two separate leaves to aid door removal where required. The lower leaf is fitted to the frame and the upper leaf is fitted to the door. They pivot on the central knuckle as other standard butt hinges but can be easily separated by lifting the door straight up.
Lift off hinges are ideal to use in environments where doors need to be regularly removed from their frames. This could be a care or education facility where large items are frequently being moved around but compartmentation is still required for privacy, acoustics, or fire safety. Other instances where the installation of lift off hinges is beneficial is for the routine maintenance of doors and they can aid in easy door set assembly.
Special Purpose Hinges
A lift off door hinge is sometimes referred to as a flag hinge as both have two leaves that can be separated at the knuckle. Flag hinges usually have two distinctive, small rectangular leaves rather than a more full, complete leaf on a lift off hinge, and are the most common type of hinge used to hang UPVC doors. Also, flag hinges aren't always metal, they can be made from plastic for light-duty applications.
Another similar looking hinge is a rising butt hinge. They are handed in the same way as a lift off hinge but rising butt hinges don't completely separate, and they are installed on doors that require an uncontrolled self closing function, such as WC cubicle doors.
