The Assa Abloy EL561 is a high security solenoid lock designed for areas that need controlled access on both sides of the door. With a 20mm deadbolt throw, automatic deadlocking, and fail safe/fail secure selection function, it delivers strong physical protection and flexible security behaviour.
Integrated monitoring functions, including door status, bolt position, and sabotage detection, support real time system feedback. Built to DIN standards and available as a fire rated version complete with an intumescent kit, the EL561 is ideal for secure, compliant access controlled doors.

ABLOY Auto Deadlocking Electric Lock
The EL561 locks itself when the door closes, as the deadbolt is automatically thrown. The double-action latch is also blocked, securing the door at two points. The 20mm deadbolt throw provides strong protection against forced entry, making the ABLOY EL561 ideal for internal doors where access control and door security are essential.
For added protection, fit a concealed door closer to ensure the door shuts fully after each use and to prevent tampering, as it’s hidden when the door is closed. Use the EA280 concealed cable loop to transfer power between the door and frame. An intumescent kit is available for fire doors.
EL561 Assa Abloy Lock for Read-In/Read-Out Access Control
Both handles are electronically controlled, meaning access is granted only when the system authorises it, perfect for read-in/read-out access control systems. This makes the EL561 ideal for medium traffic doors where both entry and exit need to be monitored or restricted.
The EL561 ABLOY lock is not supplied with handles, but it is compatible with the Futura lever handle set, available separately. If you require an electric lock that is suitable for certified escape routes, consider the ABLOY EL560 from the same range. It also works with Futura handles and allows free egress from the inside at all times, meeting EN179 requirements for emergency exit doors.
High Security Electric Lock with Key Override
The ABLOY EL561 lock supports mechanical override using a euro profile cylinder. This allows for key access if the power fails or the access control system is offline, making it a reliable option for facilities teams and emergencies.
A cylinder is not included with the lock, giving you the flexibility to reuse an existing one or use a cylinder that fits into your building’s master key system. If you need a new euro profile cylinder, you can browse our range to complete your installation.
