This intumescent fire and smoke brush seal is designed for fire rated doors to seal the gap between the door and frame while also providing cold smoke protection. It combines graphite intumescent with a brush, helping to restrict the spread of both fire and smoke and supporting safe escape routes.
Fire door signage and emergency lighting can also be used to help maintain clear and visible escape routes.

Choosing the Right Fire Door Seal
These intumescent seals are Certifire Approved (CF846) and tested to BS 476 Part 22 for fire resistance.
Selecting the correct seal size is essential to maintain the fire rating of the door. The following is a guide from the manufacturer for typical use:
- 10mm for 30 minute fire doors
- 15mm for 30 or 60 minute fire doors
- 20mm for 60 minute fire doors

Intumescent Fire Seal Expansion and Smoke Control
This intumescent strip contains an intercalated graphite core that expands when exposed to heat, increasing up to 10-15 times its original size to seal the gap and restrict the spread of fire and hot gases. The integrated brush seal provides a barrier against cold smoke, helping to control its movement.
Intumescent materials should not be mixed, as different types expand at varying rates when exposed to heat, so always consult the fire door test evidence.
