Fail safe or Fail secure
This Securefast electric strike offers the flexibility of being fail safe/fail secure reversible. This allows users to select the most suitable function for their door during installation. By simply adjusting the screw, the electric strike lock can be easily switched between fail open (PTL or power to lock) or fail secure (PTO or power to open) modes.
Understanding the distinction between fail safe and fail secure is crucial for determining the optimal function for your door. Fail safe mode ensures that in the event of a power failure, the door unlocks to prioritise safe egress for occupants. On the other hand, fail secure (fail locked) mode maintains the door securely locked during power outages, thereby enhancing security and preventing unauthorised access.
When making the decision between fail safe and fail secure, it's essential to consider the balance between security requirements and the need for safe egress in emergency situations.
