Briton 372 Push Pad Emergency Exit Bolt

The Briton 372 push pad vertical bolt is a 2 point locking device suitable for left or right handed doors. This unit is tested to meet EN 179 standards for emergency exit devices and is UKCA and CE Marked. It is for use by personnel who are fully aware of the escape routes and have been trained to operate these exit devices.

For public buildings or non-public areas where personnel have not been trained in the location and operation of the building's emergency and panic exit devices, only products conforming to EN 1125 must be specified and installed on panic exit doors. If you are in any doubt, always fit panic escape hardware that conforms to EN 1125.

Briton 372 Push Pad Instructions

Technical documentation is available to view or download in the Product Manuals section below. This includes the Declaration of Performance (DOP), UKCA, CE, and Certifire certificates, plus the installation instructions, and the product technical data sheet.

The 372 push pad and rods can be purchased in various PVD plated finishes as a special order, including satin stainless steel and polished brass. If this door hardware is being installed where there is a flush head frame then the 376FFKP flush face keeper plate can be ordered. Contact our technical sales team today for more information.

The top of the main push pad casing should be fixed at 1169mm+/- 100mm above the finished floor level. The top and bottom shoots can then be cut on site to suit the height of the door. If fitting this push pad in a school where the majority of users will be children, then the installation height may be reduced. The operational instructions advise that the push pad should be operated using the flat palm of the hand.

The manufacturer suggests various regular physical checks of the emergency door hardware. These include ensuring that all components operate correctly, the exit device is lubricated if required, and that the door and keeps are not obstructed in any way.

Briton 376 Series Exit Hardware

This range includes outside access devices (OADs) that provide authorised external access to final exit doors fitted with panic or emergency exit hardware from the Briton 376 range. The 1413E lever or knob variants can be used with the 372 push pad, and come supplied with a 40mm euro cylinder as standard. All of the panic and emergency exit devices are for fitting to single swing doors.

If you require emergency escape hardware to EN 179 for rebated double doors then the 372 push pad can be used with the Briton 1438 rim latch and a double door strike, 378DDS. If you need a push bar panic hardware solution for rebated double doors, conforming to EN 1125, then the Briton 377 double panic bolt set is available ex-stock.

When installing panic and escape hardware to pairs of rebated doors, a door co-ordinator or door selector in accordance with EN 1158 should be fitted to ensure the doors close in the correct order.

The correct fire safety signage should also be installed on doors on an escape route, plus the final exit door. Directional signs guide the building's users to the nearest exit during fire drills and operational signage indicates how to use the door hardware e.g. 'Push Bar To Open'. Instructional signs provide information on the assembly points whilst information signs such as fire action notices give details on the steps to take when a fire is discovered.
