Electric Strikes

An electric strike lock is a locking device that is typically fitted to the frame of the door and works in conjunction with a dead latch. The strike will secure the latch in place until such time as an electronic keypad, proximity reader, card reader or other access control device is operated; thus releasing the strike plate to allow for entry or exit through the door. Our electric strike locks are available in rim and mortice versions.

When installing an electric strike, it replaces the traditional faceplate from a standard mortice lock and the latch bolt from the existing lock, fits within the cavity of the electric strike to keep the door locked. When an exit button is pressed, the power will either lock the door or unlock it, depending on whether you’ve chosen a strike that is fail-safe/unlocked or fail-secure/locked. Many electric strikes are reversible so you can choose between these functions.

Some are also multi-voltage so can be reconfigured from 12VDC to 24VDC, whilst others are single voltage options. If an electric strike is being used on an external door, you would usually choose a fail-secure electric strike to ensure that the door is tightly locked outside of business hours. We also offer a great range including high security options from manufacturers such as AlproCDVI and Adams Rite and include options suited to all budget requirements. Fire Rated electric strikes are also available and suitable for use on fire doors - please check the description of each individual product to see what fire rating they have been tested to. Intumescent products should also be used in conjunction with these products to ensure full compliance with fire door regulations.
