GEZE THZ Comfort N4: Smoke Ventilation Control for Stairwells

The GEZE THZ Comfort N4 is a single-zone smoke and heat extraction (SHEV) control unit designed for use in stairwells and small ventilation systems. It combines smoke extraction functionality with day-to-day comfort ventilation, making it ideal for residential buildings, stairwells, and escape routes that require both emergency and routine airflow control.

The THZ Comfort N4 control unit features a cast aluminium housing with an integrated ventilation button, allowing safe and immediate activation by building users. This smoke and heat extraction system control panel is often surface mounted and on display, thanks to its robust construction and built-in manual call point. For installations where access isn't required, a standard THZ N4 variant without buttons is also available and typically installed in cupboards or risers.

SHEV Activation and Emergency Smoke Control

This electric window control module connects with a range of compatible inputs, including smoke detectors, GEZE FT4 manual call points, fire alarm contacts, vent switches, and weather sensors. In an emergency, the THZ Comfort N4 can then open the connected window actuators. 

The SHEV system is activated externally via a signal from the building’s fire alarm system. Activation is typically achieved using a volt-free normally open/common (NO/C) contact from a dedicated fire alarm interface or the auxiliary output of the fire panel. When the fire alarm is triggered, this contact closes to initiate the SHEV sequence.

Comfort Ventilation with Manual Override

Alongside its emergency functionality, the THZ Comfort N4 enables day to day ventilation. The integrated vent button provides direct manual control, which is ideal for improving air quality and supporting energy efficient temperature regulation.

For installations that require additional control points, compatible GEZE vent switches such as the LTA-24-AZ (24V) are available separately.
